My 20 Percent Time

Spanish culture this year has totally taken me by surprise this year. When I entered the class I thought that we would be going over the everyday/year life of the people that lived in spanish speaking countries. My assumptions were completely wrong and now we are doing a project called 20 percent time. In this project called "20 percent time", we will focus on something that interests us in our lives and connect it back to a spanish speaking country. So about three to four days ago I was asked to pick a topic that I wanted to focus all of my attention on for the whole trimester. Instantly one thing popped dup into my head, and that was the medical field. I have always been interested in the medical field and have wanted to go into it professionally when I get older. This project gives me the perfect opportunity to study some of what I want to do when i am older. I decided the primary things that I wanted to focus on were, Do procedures differ in anyways between the spanish countries and the United States? How do people get access and pay for their medical care? What restrictions do doctors  have in spanish speaking countries that doctors in the United States do not have? And what discoveries have spanish speaking countries been credited for? My goals in doing this is to get a better understanding on health care in spanish speaking countries and on their ways of medicine. I will, ultimately, measure emu goals on my understanding of the knowledge each week and how well I do on my TED talk at the end of the trimester.

  1. Fabulous list of questions, Ross! I can tell you will make the most out of this chance to look into something that interests you. I look forward to learning about health care in Spanish-speaking countries, as this is a complicated topic here in the US, but a topic that we all deal with regularly in our lives. Keep up the good work!
